29th November 09 - Coaches View

An excellent performance, attitude spot on from the start of the warm up, thanks to the boys who listened to the points made at training and put these points into practise.

Positives

- Attitude was excellent, we competed from the start of the game.
- Everyone stuck to our tactics and it worked perfectly.
- Intelligence used when attacking against the off side trap.
- Defence adapted well to having to mark first 2 and then 3 attackers.

Learning Points

- Midfield defensive positions.
- Marking and passing players on to mark to a team mate (we will discuss in training).

Parents Player of the Match - Gareth - Brilliant Captains performance, made tackles, intelligent through passes with both left and right feet.

Coaches Player of the match - Guy - Put a lot of thought into his positional side of his game, made good tackles and headers in defence, some good passes after winning the ball.

22.11.09 - Coaches View

Overall a battling performance in which we did well considering we only had 11 players and several of the boys had injuries.

Positives

- We once again created lots of chances.
- The way we beat the off side trap was good.
- The boys were prepared to play different positions to help out the team.

Learning Points

- We need to adapt to what the other team are doing, e.g. when the opposition played 3 up front we needed our centre back and 2 full backs to mark in order to ensure Avi could still act as sweeper.
- From the other teams keepers kicks we need to get underneath the ball and head back up the field.
- When in good attacking positions we need to ensure simple passes are made (side foot, easy pass which was all that was required).
-We must keep our defensive shape at all times.

Parents player of the match - Jonny, excellent saves, especially in the 2nd half.

Coaches player of the match - Ryan - Very good performance at centre back.

15th November 09 - Coaches View

Overall a good performance today, we created lots of chances.

Positives

- Lots of chances created
- We competed well against a team who we have struggled against in the past.

Learning Points

- Allow Avi to be sweeper, we therefore need to ensure the rest of the back four mark the strikers.
- Use the width of the pitch, we tended to come in narrow which helped Oaksey defend
- Run at defenders, pull them out of position and then pass the ball, too many long range shots today.

Parents player of the match - Josh Rowland - Excellent all round performance
Coaches player of the match - Bradley - Good pasing, won the ball well, good headed goal.

8th November 09 - Coaches View

We hadn't played for 3 weeks and I thought it showed today in our performance.

Positives

- Some great saves from Jonny
- Some good passing movements
- Some very good individual displays

Learning Points

- We need the right attitude from the warm up, if we are sloppy it goes into the game
- Basics such as staying on the goal side of the person you are marking
- If a team play two up front one of the full backs need to come inside a mark, we were not doing that which meant our sweeper was having to mark rather than drop off.

Parents Player of the Match - Josh Rowland - Worked hard for the team and scored two good goals, Josh represents what a good midfield player should do both helping out the defence and staying wide and square to support the forwards and other players in midfield.

Coaches Player of the Match - Jonny - Some excellent saves particular in one on one situations.

Wasps U14's -1st November 09 update

1. Change in Car Parking Arrangements at PGL

Sorry for the arrangements continuing to change, but please note that the one-way system will not be operating on Mondays.

This means that cars should exit the site via the main entrance road (not the side gates), but cars should continue to be parked in the main car park (right at the fountain).

2. Level 1 Training Course

The Club are considering asking the FA to run a course for the people who want to achieve Level 1 standard from our Club.

We need a certain level of coaches to maintain our Chartered Standard Status.

If anyone is interested in attending the Level 1 Coaching please let me know (when I did it we had to do 3 weekends of coaching and two evening sessions covering First Aid and the Safety of Children).
