U14's - 22nd October Update

1st November - Friendly game

Arranged v Eldene @ the Rec, meet @ 9.55 for 10.30 KO. I would like all the squad to attend, everyone will get part of a game.

Sunday 25th October - No training

Monday 26th October

Training at PGL, please note the important change below re Parking from Club Secretary, Jon Raymond.

"Unfortunately there were a couple of issues last night with regards to
parking and we need to alter the arrangements.

With immediate effect the parking area by the astroturf will be for the use
of coaches and parent helpers only.  All other parents who need to park,
including parents who are dropping their children off before a session or
picking them up at the end, must use the main car park (by turning right at
the fountain and then left).

No-one must obstruct any of the roads, or park at the side of the roads, in
the disabled parking bays or near the stable entrances (including the stable
car park).  It is vital that these simple rules are obeyed otherwise there
is a real danger that we will lose the use of the facility.

Obviously with large numbers of children taking part it makes good sense for
parents to try and share lifts as far as possible to cut down on the number
of cars on the site, particularly for the first session on Monday (6-7pm).

Lastly, the one way system will continue to operate: access to the site will
be via the main entrance (off the Liddington to Hinton Parva road, from the
B4192), exit will be via the side entrance nearest the astroturf pitch, i.e.
cars that are parked in the main car park will need to turn right and go
back past the fountain and then past the astroturf pitch".

Sportmanship Cup

If anyone would like the Cup for a couple of weeks let me know, clearly any damage to the Cup needs to be paid for.

Squads

I will let you know the squads for the next month during next week, please let me know if availability has changed for any of the boys.

Thanks

Parking @ PGL

Because STFC are also using some of the facilities at The Liddington
(Zurich), there is one slight amendment to the arrangements:

Cars should still enter using the main entrance (on the Liddington to Hinton
Parva road), but a one-way system will be in operation.  From the main
drive, cars should turn left at the fountain and follow the road round to
the astroturf pitch.  For those that haven't been before, there is a small
parking area there.  Cars will then need to exit by continuing along that
road (past the stables) and out through the gate that comes out onto The
Hollow (turn right for Wanborough, left to return to the Liddington-Hinton
Parva road).  Cars must not travel back from the astroturf towards the
fountain, as has been the case in previous years.

Wasps Under 14's -Training Time @ PGL

Sorry for the confusion in my previous em, to confirm training will now be from 20.00 to 21.00 @ PGL.

11th October 09 - Coaches View

The 2nd half was our best performance of the season, although you were all disappointed by conceding a late goal your performance against a higher division team did our club proud.

Positives

- Much more positive in the 2nd half attacking the ball with headers, winning tackles.
- Created some good chances in our attacking play.
- Defence played well against good quality attackers.

Learning Points

- Start games with more self belief.
- Defence need to quickly come out in a line when we clear the ball.
- More attention on marking from corners and throw in's, we were caught on 2 short corners today, the first goal came from us not marking quickly enough from a throw in.

Parents Player of the Match - Avi, excellent start to the season with another great performance today.

Coaches player of the match - Joe, for one of his best performances for the club, adapted well to a new position, made lots of good tackles, passed the ball well when he got the ball.

U14's - 4th October 09 update

I'm sure you all enjoyed today's game, an excellent performance.

This update covers training and a cup game we now have next weekend.

11th October - Cup Tie v Abbey Meades (only just arranged by the league)

Location - Lydiard Park, meet at 9.25 for a 10.00 kick off.

Squad members missing the game are Gareth, James and Bradley.

Training - 5th October - at Hoopers Field - 18.15 till 19.15 (suggest you get there around 19.10 judging by how quickly the light closed in tonight).

Training from 11th October - 20.00 -21.00 (at PGL, formally, Liddington / Zurich and where Swindon Town train).

You will see the time slot has changed, we had two of these slots during the week so it was only right the U15's and U14's took them as the oldest age groups.

The main car park is under repair so I suggest you drop the boys off near the water fountain in front of the main entrance so they can walk to the court.

My concern is the switch over between the group before us if all the parents are driving along the narrow road.

Collection won't be a problem as we will be the only age group present.

For Will / Josh Rowland's benefit I suggest whoever takes you walks around to the court the first time, if you face the main entrance follow the road to the left to the court, its no more than a couple of minutes to walk (wear trainers with shin pads).

The best place to park will be in the small car park by the house on your left as you drive up the main entrance.

Some rules that have been set by the new owners:

- For the time-being access to the astroturf pitch will be via the main entrance, but we have may have to use the side entrance (from The Hollow) when building
work starts.

- All vehicles to be driven at walking pace on site – PGL reserves right to
exclude any vehicle/driver failing to adhere.

- All litter to be placed in bins provided - failure to comply may incur a
litter charge.

- Clearly as always the boys to show respect for the use of this facility

For those who are interested some information about the new owners:

Directions for Will and Josh:

From the Commonhead Roundabout:

- Take the 4th exit B4192 signposted to Aldbourne, Liddington and Baydon.
- Follow this road for approx 1 3/4 miles and after crossing the motorway, turn left at the junction signposted Baydon and Little Hinton.
- Follow this road for approx 3/4 mile (crossing back over the Motorway), the entrance is on the left between the two white lodges.

The alternative route is to go through Wanborough taking the B4000 towards the Shepherds Rest, when you get to the Shepherds Rest turn right, the white lodges are on your right.

4th October 09 v Shaw- Coaches View

For sheer determination, never giving up despite going behind twice in the game this was for me one of our best ever performances, well done to every member of the team.

Positives

- As the game went on we made some good passing movements
- We competed especially after the first 15 minutes
- Players did well in new positions
- We adapted as a team to the change in tactics (e.g. one player man marking)

Learning Points

- Start well, for the last 2 games we haven't got into the game quick enough
- We must stay goal side at all times, especially from corners.
- For our goal kicks we defend first, then attack.
- Wide players, get crosses in early, forwards need make the runs into the box

Parents Player of the match - Will - For an excellent display in a new position working hard for the team

Coaches Player of the match - Harry - For having the guts to play in goal, making some excellent saves and trying his best throughout for the team.

Wasps U14's - 4th October v Shaw

To confirm the kick off time for the 4th October is 12.00, we will meet at 11.25.

Squad members missing this game are Chris T, James, Bradley and Jonny.

Venue: Chestnut Springs Address, enter Lydiard Millicent and turn into Chestnut Springs at the roundabout in the centre of the village. After turning into Chestnut Springs take a left turn at the next junction then take the first right turn. Go straight ahead for about 200 yards and you will see the entrance to the sportsfield on the left hand side before the road bends to the right.
