Learning Points

- We need to stay goal side when defending, I will pick up in training.

Wasps U14's - 26th Sept 09 - Action Required

I need your Car Registration and Kit Size for the boys by return, see below for details.

  • Winter training

The Club will have access to the astro-turf pitch at PGL (formally Zurich) between 12 October 2009
and 31 March 2010 for winter training.

We are currently working out days / time slots for each team.

Action - As part of the requirement for our use of the pitch, it will be necessary to
provide PGL with the registration numbers of all cars that are likely to be
dropping off on training nights. Please respond on this by Weds 30th September.

I suspect this is to identify people who park near the court rather than the car park.

  • New item of training kit

Action - The club are going to provide each player with a new item of
training kit this season.  Please let me know the size
required by Weds 30th September.

The sizes are as follows:

Boys 26/28
Boys 30/32
Small 34/36
M/L 38/40
XL 42/44
XXL 46/48

  • Training

Will be at 18.30 to 19.30 at Hoopers this Monday and until we start at PGL.

Welcome to Kieran Patani who is going to be helping out with training going forward. Kieran is a qualified FA coach.

Cliff will be at each session,  Martin Strong, Sarah and Kate will also come along if I'm alone so we should be ok for training in terms of having 2 adults present going foward.

  • Match Days

Ray and Martin Hook will help out when their younger lads haven't got a game.

If anyone else willing to help out on match days please let me know, main support is needed pre match when I'm doing the warm up, speaking to the ref and opposition etc.

I need somebody with me for best practice and also it helps in what is a hectic 35 minutes.

Thanks

Rob

U14's - 20th Sept game is off

Support Required

Training

For the last few weeks we have only had Jamie and I taking the boys training.

Jamie is doing a great job as part of his Duke of E but he isn't an adult, there should be 2 adults at every session as part of CRB and general good practise.

Cliff helps out when he can but can't make every week.

Therefore is anyone willing to commit to helping each Monday (work permitting) to ensure we have the right number of adults present?

If not I will need to pull together a rota so everyone takes a turn, that isn't my preference as it involves more work for me.

Please let me know if you are interested in helping out, you don't have to do overhead kicks or anything like that, Jamie can do all the skillful stuff

Match Days

Home Games - I know that Ray will always try to get to the Rec at the same time as me, it would be useful to know if anyone else is willing to help out. It is basic things such as setting up, looking after the boys whilst I speak to the other team / ref etc.

It would also be helpful if you all could help in gathering in the ropes, goal net pegs and corner flags after the game whilst I'm doing the cool down.

Away Games - Isn't a problem as a number of you are there anyway.

20th Sept v Ramsbury - Game cancelled, they have pulled out of the league.

I will do a training session at the Rec from 10.30 to 11.45 on Sunday instead.

13th September 09 - Coaches View

Overall good performance, a couple of very good passing movements.

Our best ever start to a season.

Positives

- Some excellent shooting at tight angles
- A couple of instances of 5 to 6 consecutive passes
- Defence improving communication between each other

Learning Points

- Right attitude is needed right from the time the boys turn up.
- I need to ensure we are clear who goes into the defensive wall when the other team can shoot at our goal.
- For corners against we are still not getting into the right positions, something I will pick up on in training.

- Parents players of the match - Shared between Will for a great attacking display and Jonny for commanding the 18 yard area coming out on many occasions and also for the way he palmed the ball away from defensive corners.

- Coaches Award - Josh Reynolds, lots of encouragement from the centre of defence, good tackling and use of the ball.

Designated Supporters Area

Please note that for all games this season supporters are required under the FA Respect campaign to stand on one side of the pitch.

The coaches go on the opposite side, research has shown that this cuts down on inappropriate shouting.

I will let you all stand in the warm on the Village Hall side of the Rec

Thanks

6th September 09 - Croft B - Coaches View

Excellent performance, especially in the first half when the passing movements were some of the best we have played.

Positives

- Everyone played with skill and determination
- Communication was much improved on last season
- When we were under pressure in the 2nd half we defended well.

Learning Points

- We need to work on our fitness

Parents player of the match - Will - excellent all round display, showing determination to win the ball and then passed it very well.

Coaches player of the match - Josh Rowland - Played the wide midfield role exactly how it should be helping out the defence and then providing width in our attack.

3rd September 09 - Friendly v Under 15's -Coaches View

Considering it was our first game for a couple of months I thought it was a positive start to the season.

Positives

- Excellent attitude, everyone worked for the team.
- We created some good chances when attacking
- Our passing improved throughout the game

Learning Points

- Be first to the rebounds
- Midfield to create space when we have the ball (e.g. go wide)
- Defenders don't let players get in behind them

We will work on these points in our next training session.
