25th Jan 09 - Coaches View

Your attitude and approach to the game was excellent today, what a difference it made and I'm sure you must have enjoyed the game so much more. Thanks for listening to the feedback and acting on it.

Positives

  • We played like a team, not individuals.
  • We were winning the 50:50 tackles and chasing back to help each other
  • Some intelligent forward play, instances of 3 man running and blindside runs
  • Use of the left foot by several players which was great to see.

Learning Points

  • I only heard a couple of people answer back to the referee, that must be nil in the future, once the ref has made the decision get on with the game, never question the ref, they are doing us a favour in ensuring with have a game.
  • Remember the basics:
    • Never play the ball back into the 18 yard box, clear the ball up the pitch.
    • If in doubt put the ball out for a throw in, try to avoid giving away a corner, but better to do that than give away a goal.
    • We gave too many foul throws away today, both feet need to be on the ground when you take it.
  • Its good to call for the ball but only do that if you are in a good position.

Captains player of the match - Bradley - Great forward play, intelligent use of the ball, excellent level of skill using both feet.

Coaches Player of the Match - Chris Tylee, determined tackling, chased back well and good positioning when tackling.

18th Jan 09 - Coaches View

We competed for the first quarter of the game, however afterwards we made too many basic mistakes.

  • Positives - There were some good individual displays, main positive is we that we have got our worst display for 2009 out of the way

  • Learning Points - Lots to discuss in training, some of which are:

- Play the ball simply in and around the 18 yard box, don't lose possession in this area.
- Stay in your position, too many times Greenmeadow players were left un - marked from crosses which meant our players were not marking, in the right position or tracking back.
- Midfield and Defenders need to show the attacker which direction to go which is always away from our goal.
- If a player gets past you chase back, do a slide tackle, show determination to win the ball.

  • Captains Player of the Match - Jonny - For some excellent save
  • Coaches Player of the match - Chris Strong, made some good tackles, used the ball well, good blocks.
